What is mechanical and enzyme peeling?

Exfoliating the skin means removing dead skin cells so that new and healthy skin cells can emerge. The skin then gets a fresh and beautiful glow. When you exfoliate your skin regularly, your skin care products will absorb better and deeper into the skin and therefore also increase the effect of the products. Other benefits of peeling are that it can reduce fine lines, counteract acne, pigment changes and also improve dry skin. By exfoliating the skin regularly, the moisture level in the skin can increase and this in turn gives the skin a fresh glow. The two most common methods are mechanical peeling and enzyme peeling.
Mechanical peeling
1.
Mechanical exfoliation is the most common form of exfoliation with actual grains used to scrub the skin.
2.
Physical grains from various materials are used, such as sugar grains, the shells of seeds and nuts such as coconut or jojoba, but synthetic grains made of plastic can also be added.
Read more here about microplastics and how you can avoid them.
3.
Mechanical exfoliation occurs when you massage the scrub granules into your face. Using the pressure of your fingertip, you can decide how hard you want to exfoliate. Mechanical exfoliation removes dead skin cells and 'sands' the top layer of skin, leaving the skin soft, smooth and cleansed.
Enzyme peeling
1.
Enzyme peeling is a peeling that is effective in removing dead skin cells because the enzymes dissolve and weaken the bonds between the dead cells so that they can escape. The enzymes will also 'eat up' a lot of the dead skin cells.
2.
Enzyme peeling is very good for sensitive and irritated skin types because this form of peeling, although effective, is also very mild and gentle.
3.
Enzyme peeling is available in the form of masks that are applied to the skin and are supposed to work for a certain time to let the enzymes do their job. Enzymes are found in both plants, fruits and grains such as sugar, papaya and pineapple. After an enzyme peeling, the skin will feel very soft and smooth with a fresh glow.
Rosehip Peeling Mask
Marina Miracle Rosehip Peeling Mask contains both of these methods of exfoliation so you get the best of both worlds. When you apply the mask to your skin, enzymes from the sugars will begin to dissolve and 'eat up' dead skin cells. After 15-30 minutes, your skin has received an enzyme peel and you can choose to move on to mechanical peeling.
If you have very sensitive skin, the enzyme peel may be enough, you just wash off the mask without performing mechanical peeling. If you want mechanical peeling in addition, massage the mask into the skin like a scrub so that the sugar grains from organic raw cane sugar provide a mild mechanical peeling. You can adjust the pressure yourself according to how sensitive your skin is.
Because Rosehip Peeling Mask contains both enzyme peeling and mechanical peeling, this is a perfect mask that deeply cleanses and exfoliates the skin in a gentle but effective way and is also suitable for all skin types. It forms a perfect base for a moisturizing mask such as the Shea Hydration Mask and will also enhance the effectiveness of your regular skincare products.
