What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin known for its amazing ability to attract and hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water.
Hyaluronic acid is not an acid, but a type of sugar, glycosaminoglycan, that binds water and forms a gel. This gel acts as a lubricant between the elastic fibers in our skin. Hyaluronic acid protects connective tissue from particles and bad bacteria. Hyaluronic acid is also found in joint fluid, in the fluid in the eye and egg cells are also surrounded by hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid's most important job is to keep the skin, collagen and elastin, stable, in balance and continuously renewed.
What does Hyaluronic Acid help with?
This ingredient is the ultimate ingredient for dry, dehydrated and lackluster skin.
Hyaluronic acid improves the moisture in the skin, making it softer, smoother and visibly plumped with moisture. Lines and wrinkles can also be greatly reduced because wrinkles are most visible when the skin is dry and dehydrated. What is special about our Hyaluronic Acid?
We always use two different hyaluronic acids in the same product. Both are organic EcoCert and COSMOS certified, of very high quality and non-animal, i.e. a natural and vegan hyaluronic acid derived from glucose, soy and yeast extract. Our hyaluronic acid is produced biotechnologically through microbial fermentation.
1. SLMW Hyaluronic acid (super low molecular weight) is made by enzymatic cleavage of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid into small fragments. Molecular weight 8-15kDa.
2. Hyaluronic acid with larger molecules. Molecular weight 800-1200 kDa.
When we use both low-molecular and regular hyaluronic acid with large molecules, we manage to hydrate the skin on all levels, and it becomes super effective for dry and dehydrated skin, for mature and dull skin, and for smoothing out wrinkles.
