What is Chia?

Chia seeds are seeds from the flowers of the Lamiaceae plant, which belongs to the mint family. They grow naturally in Mexico and Bolivia.

Chia seeds are high in protein. Chia seeds are low in cholesterol and sodium, but high in antioxidants, and are also a good source of potassium, calcium, iron, phosphorus and manganese. And what's good for the inside is often good for the outside too :)

What does Chia help against?

Chia seed oil helps increase skin moisture, relieve itchy skin and strengthen skin barrier function, reduce lines and make skin soft and smooth.

Chia is also a good source of vitamin B3 and zinc. The antioxidants in chia seed oil have been shown to be even more powerful than the antioxidants in vitamin C and vitamin E.

Chia seeds are considered to be the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids found in nature. These fatty acids plump the skin and help maintain moisture levels.

What is special about our Chia?

Our chia seed oil is truly unique. We use organically grown chia seeds from local farmers in Bolivia. Bolivia is the area where chia has always grown, and because they grow where they naturally "live", the oil that is pressed is very rich in vitamins and minerals! (Most chia seed oils are pressed from seeds grown in China. Although they are sometimes certified organic, there is a lot of pollution in the air.)

The oil is pressed locally here in Norway - it has to be filtered several times over several days, so it's a bit of work, but we like to have completely fresh oil which gives us control that we can really offer the very best chia seed oil! The oil is also food-grade (edible).
