What is Amaranth?

Amaranth oil comes from the flower Amaranth - ''The Never Fading Flower''. This flower is found in South America and Greece and was named Amaranth which in Greek means 'The flower that never fades'. Amaranth has been a symbol of immortality throughout history because this flower retains its bright colors when dried.

An example of how central Amaranth has been in history is this beautiful poem written by the Greek poet Aesop (620 BC):

A Rose and an Amaranth blossomed side by side in a garden,
and the Amaranth said to her neighbor,
"How I envy you your beauty and your sweet scent!
No wonder you are such a universal favourite."
But the Rose replied,
"Ah, my dear friend, I bloom but for a brief season,
and my petals soon wither and fall.
Your flowers never fade, but bloom in renewed youth,
for they are everlasting."

What does Amaranth help against?

Amaranth is the plant/growth in the world that is richest in the substance squalene (In fact, over 5 times as much squalene as number 2 on the list). Squalene is a fatty substance that we naturally have in our skin, but as we age, the production of squalene decreases. It has also been shown that younger people, with dry to very dry skin, have good effects from squalene .

Amaranth oil slows down skin aging and the development of wrinkles. The oil penetrates the skin quickly without feeling greasy on the skin and is easy to spread. Amaranth is very emollient and provides the skin with both nourishment and moisture. It also has a soothing effect on irritated skin.

Amaranth oil has a high content of linoleic acid (40%) which helps to preserve the health of cell membranes and increase cell function resulting in healthier and finer skin.

What is special about our Amaranth?

Our amaranth oil is certified organic by DEBIO. The amaranth seeds that are pressed are grown organically in Brazil and are of very high quality. The seeds are cold pressed and exceptionally rich in omega-6 fatty acids, linoleic acid and also contain the omega-3 fatty acid linolenic acid.
