3 tips for dry winter skin

use a good face mask for dry skin

Did you know that most of us get dry skin in the winter because the cold air draws moisture out of the skin?

You may have experienced being outside for a while in freezing temperatures and when you come back inside, your skin feels tight and dry. Sometimes it gets so dry that itchy and flaky. But luckily there is a good solution to this. Here are my 3 best tips for getting moisture and glow back to dry and dull winter skin.

1. Exfoliate your skin once a week

It is important to exfoliate regularly because dead skin cells build up on the skin. The skin cells block facial oils and moisturizers from absorbing well enough, which means you don't get the proper hydration because everything just sits on the surface and your skin continues to be dry.

Rosehip Peeling Mask is a great face mask to use for dry skin because it exfoliates, scrubs and draws out impurities from pores, without drying out the skin. The skin becomes silky soft, clean and ready for a moisturizing product!

2. Use a nourishing facial oil and cream morning and night

Oils are great to use in the winter because they penetrate deep into the skin and the lipids in the oils strengthen the skin barrier, making it more resistant to cold. The ultimate oil for dry to very dry skin is Amaranth Face Oil . It softens and provides lots of healthy fatty acids to the skin - which it needs so badly now in the winter! The oil is used every morning and evening after cleansing or a face mask.

It is also a good idea to apply a cream over the facial oil when you have dry skin, this will hydrate the dry skin even more. Acai Hydra Cream for normal/combination skin and Amaranth Day Cream for dry/mature skin will provide the skin with moisture and a protective barrier against external pollution.

In the winter , S.ave O.ur S.skin is a fantastic moisturizer! This can be used as a moisturizer and aftershave for adults and children, just apply 20-30 minutes before going out.

3. Give your skin a little extra care with a moisturizing mask 1-2 times a week

A moisturizing mask is a must when you have dry skin.Super Skin Fodd Mask 1-2 evenings a week provides lots of moisture and nourishment to the skin. The mask contains malic acids and probiotic juice of aloe vera and green tea, so it provides really deep and effective moisture. This mask is popular in Finnmark, where it is super cold in the winter, because it provides such good moisture. This is a really good face mask for dry skin .

Read here a fun article I wrote in Fjord about how well a moisture mask works in Alta, where it can get up to minus 50 degrees !
