What are Lipids?
September 30, 2014 – Marina Engervik
Lipids are a group of, or a collective name for, naturally occurring molecules that include fats, waxes, and fat-soluble vitamins (Vitamins A, D, E, and K).

Lipids in brief:
- Occurs naturally in the skin
- Consists of fatty acids
- Protects the moisture barrier
- Prevents dehydration
- Gives glow to the skin
- Contributes to healthy and fresh skin
Lipids occur naturally in vegetable oils. Oils from, for example, olive, avocado, almond, apricot or evening primrose are packed with healthy lipids.
Lipids also occur naturally in the outermost layer of our skin, the epidermis, and are made up of lipids such as ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids. These lipids are natural fats that are essential for maintaining healthy moisture and structure in the skin . Lipids protect the skin's moisture barrier and prevent water loss through the skin which can lead to dry and irritated skin.
Recent research shows that the ingredient we've feared the most is actually the one that can truly change our skin for the better. Just as we need essential fatty acids in our diet every day to maintain good health, our skin needs nourishing oils to stay healthy and vibrant.
Our products contain high concentrations of lipids because they are formulated with natural oils that are rich in lipids. If you are looking to have healthy, glowing skin without exposure to chemicals or harsh treatments, you should add natural facial oils and serums to your daily skincare routine.

Healthy, youthful, glowing skin has a rich supply of lipids. Skin cells are held together by natural oils, resulting in healthy, glowing skin. As we age, our skin loses its natural ability to produce lipids. Therefore, we need to replenish our skin with lipids, which are naturally found in nourishing oils. Healthy skin with a strong moisture barrier will prevent dehydration and help it retain moisture.
When you apply the facial oil, it will quickly absorb into the top layer of skin, the epidermis, and immediately produce lipids that will create a moisture barrier in the skin. You will quickly experience healthy and fresh skin, full of new glow!
