How to treat oily skin

oily skin

Oily and greasy skin is a very common condition. Some people also struggle with pimples, blackheads and acne in addition to oily skin.

You might be surprised to hear that you can treat oily skin with oil?

Many people think that the best way to treat oily skin is to strip the skin of oil and use products that dry out the oil in the skin. This is a mistake that many people make. What happens when you use products that are supposed to dry out oily skin is that the skin just starts to produce more oil. This doesn't fix the problem, it just hides it for a certain period of time. Over time, the skin will produce more and more oil to compensate for being dried out and you have to use more and more products, a pretty vicious cycle in other words.

If you instead lubricate your skin with pure oils that do not clog pores, your skin will think; "There is enough oil here, I don't need to produce more." The sebaceous glands in the skin now relax and stop overproducing oil.

Good news for those of you with oily skin

Those with oily skin often age better and develop fewer wrinkles than those with dry/normal skin. This is because oily skin is thicker and therefore stronger and more resistant to wrinkles.

If you suffer from oily, greasy skin with or without acne, try this as a skincare routine, every morning and evening:

1. Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser (buy those made for sensitive skin) and cleanse your face morning and night. You can also just use lukewarm water to wash your face if you prefer. Always finish washing your face with ice cold water to close your pores.

2. After cleansing and washing, apply Acne Fight Serum to provide the skin with good moisture and "trick" the skin so that it does not produce more oil.

3. Always wear makeup that is lightweight and doesn't clog your pores.
