Environmental toxins in skin care products

February 9, 2014 – Marina Engervik

Environmental toxins are found almost everywhere, in the cosmetics and creams you apply to yourself, in the packaging of food, and even in the clothes and shoes we wear every day. These include toxins such as mercury, PCBs, DDT, and many other substances.

Around 60 years ago, it was common for the human body to have six to seven different harmful substances in it, but now it is more common to find between 200-400 environmental toxins in the human body!

All of these substances are not necessarily extremely dangerous, but it is the sum and mixture of all of this that can create consequences.

Researchers believe that Norway is one of the countries with the highest levels of various chemicals in the body. Some of these chemicals can affect fertility, hormones and disrupt our genes. Increases in asthma and diabetes are also linked to all of these environmental toxins.

Norwegians are full of environmental toxins

Previously, food was the biggest source of exposure to environmental toxins, but that has changed. They now enter the body via many different routes, especially through the skin.

Researchers from Norway have measured parabens in the blood of women who use skin care products containing these toxins. The results show that the more you apply to your skin, the greater the amount of parabens found in your blood. This can affect the hormonal balance in the body and have other unexpected harmful effects.

It's not just us who are affected by these toxins. Fetuses are very vulnerable to environmental influences and almost all environmental toxins pass through the placenta and into the fetus' bloodstream. We understand that the mother's amount of environmental toxins is of great importance.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones - avoid falling victim to the environmental poison cocktail. Choose natural skin care .
