Is there sunscreen in the facial oils?

Marina Miracle SPF sun protection in facial oils

Many people wonder if there is a sun factor in our facial oils. The answer is no, there are no added sun filters in our facial oils, but they have a natural content of sun protection properties that corresponds to a sun factor of about 10 spf. We cannot say the exact sun factor because oils are raw materials and will always vary slightly.

We would still recommend that you use sunscreen over your facial oil during the summer and also at other times of the year if you are going to be outside in the sun. Buy a sunscreen with a physical sun filter that is non-nano (Non-nano means that the particles that provide sun protection are not so small that they enter the bloodstream) and preferably as natural as possible, so you avoid hormone disruptors and other harmful chemicals.

There are two types of radiation we need to protect ourselves from, UVA and UVB. You should buy a sunscreen that protects against both of these, a so-called broad-spectrum sunscreen.

What is the difference between UVA and UVB?

UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis, the thickest layer of the skin. Unprotected exposure over long periods can lead to premature aging of the skin and the formation of wrinkles. UVB rays are the rays that cause sunburn. The rays burn the top layer of the skin, the epidermis. These types of rays and sun damage can cause skin cancer.
